13k Checkpoint - Lower Kākā
Katrina(Lead), Tania, Carol Hunter plus 1
-You will need hi-vis, a radio & paperwork.
-Drive 1.25km along the rough Teetotal Road and park in the rifle range car park. Walk over to Marshal Point E /Doc Sign and then into the bush to the checkpoint position - Katrina was here last year.
-Be in position and ready by 9:30am at same location at the bottom of Kākā as per site visit / 2024 event. Pick up ???? from registration at Alpine Lodge. Make yourself known to Carol Singleton, marshal at Point E. See Section 3 map.
-Spotter: Stationed about 20-50m ahead of checkpoint; asks runners to slow down, make sure numbers are visible & spread out ready for checkpoint.
-Caller: Call competitor’s number & if necessary stops runners to ensure all numbers are recorded.
-Recorder: Writes down numbers when called. Record time-of-day approx every 10th runner.
-Radio: manage communications as needed so recorder and caller are not interrupted. If only 3 people are on checkpoint, the Spotter takes the radio.
-At quiet times, transfer numbers from Recording Sheets to Bingo Cards.
-Before TECs arrive start recording time gaps of last few competitors.
-When TEC's arrive, first compare total number tally and if necessary compare Bingo cards. Liaise with Westie/Teetotal Response if there are missing racers/numbers to ensure all starters have cleared the checkpoint.
-Use mobile phone or Radio to contact finish line if more number information is needed.
