Half Checkpoint - Jasmine Rd skid site/junction
Amanda, Greg, Julie, Antony
-You will need hi-vis, a radio, 1st Aid & paperwork.
-Head up as soon as you are no longer need at Rego.
-Check signage on the way up Jasmine Rd is in place (mainly tape across side roads).
-Check signage above checkpoint is in place, especially the tape across the road and large cone and arrow at exit from Big Bush Ridge / Robin Banks which is 750m up from the checkpoint..
- Position yourself at the obvious fork in the forestry roads 750m down from the exit from Big Bush Ridge, 800m up from lower gate. The eastern fork leads to a large long skid site - this is out of bounds. See section 5 of Marshal Maps. We will have left 2 small cones marking that point, for you to re-position. See sketch below. This is approximately halfway (10.5km) on the course.
-Spotter: Stationed about 50m ahead of checkpoint; asks runners to slow down, make sure numbers are visible & spread out ready for checkpoint.
-Caller: Call competitor’s number & if necessary stops runners to ensure all numbers are recorded.
-Recorder: Writes down numbers when called. Record time-of-day approx every 10th runner.
-Radio: manage communications as needed so recorder and caller are not interrupted. If only 3 people are on checkpoint, the Spotter takes the radio.
-At quiet times, transfer numbers from Recording Sheets to Bingo Cards.
-Before TECs arrive start recording time gaps of last few competitors.
-When TEC's arrive, first compare total number tally and if necessary compare Bingo cards. Liaise with Westie/Teetotal Response if there are missing racers/numbers to ensure all starters have cleared the checkpoint.
-Use mobile phone to contact finish line if more number information is needed.
